Many people think that showing livestock ends with producing meat for people to eat. Showing is much deeper than that! Our youth involvement in the agriculture industry starts at local livestock shows.

Exhibitors learn how to be responsible of a growing an animal, feeding and caring for it 27/4.

We learn how to be financially responsible to provide for our livestock and what it means to have a profit or loss.

We learn time management, planning our schedule based on what our animal needs.

We learn proper nutrition and what our animals need in their feed for correct weight gain.

We learn how to properly care, wash, clean, and groom our livestock.

We learn the highs and lows of livestock projects. We learn how to step back up and keep trying, even when things get hard.

We learn to make goals for not only ourselves but our animals to work for everyday.

We learn how to support our friends and peers when they win something we worked hard for.

We meet new people, have new friends and create new memories with peers in the barn.

We learn how to be humble and always help others in the barn because we understand that we’re all kids fighting for the same industry.

We learn how to present our project to the best of our abilities from working with them everyday.

We learn how to grow relationships and understand the characters of our animals

And lastly, we produce food for people to eat.

Kids who choose to be apart of this industry and take these responsibilities of showing livestock deserve more attention as we put so much work into an industry we all rely on everyday. If your child is interested in showing, let them! It will help them grow, mature, develop and understand so much just as young kids.
